| Underground nuclear explosion was carried out on September 9, 2016 in North Korea, it was registered by GS RAS. Time of the explosion - 00:29 GMT (03:29 Moscow Time) and magnitude M=5.4. |
| Parameters of the earthquake
have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information
Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data
obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS
and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 10 min after
registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM). |
| Preliminary processing has been done with data from 35 stations, accurate processing - with data 53 stations. |
| Fig. 1 presents fragments of three component records of the explosion obtained from digital station Mys Shultsa (∆ 2º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Ussuriisk (∆ 3.6º), Taejon (∆ 5.1º), Kuldur (∆ 8.2º), Ulaanbaatar (∆ 17º). |

| Fig. 3 presents with red star the epicenter of the explosion, its origin was located in the northeastern part of North Korea (nuclear test site Pungeri region), 79 km S-W of Chongjin, 312 km S-W of Vladivostok and 381 km N-E of Pyongyang. |
