Information message about destructive earthquake in China, August 3, 2014

The destructive earthquake M=6.3 has occurred on August 3, 2014 at 8:30 GMT (12:30 Moscow time) in China. It was located in в Yúnnán Province and caused victims and destructions.
Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 12 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).
Preliminary processing has been done with data from 29 stations, accurate processing - with data 44 stations.
     Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Ulaanbaatar (∆ 20.8º), Taejon (∆ 22.2º), Hailar (∆ 25.4º), Vladivostok (∆ 28º), Ala-Archa (∆ 28.1º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Arti (∆ 43.2º), Tiksi (∆ 46.7º), Kislovodsk (∆ 51.1º), Bilibino (∆ 55º), Obninsk (∆ 55.1º).

    Macroseismic manifestations
According to ITAR-TASS 589 persons were killed and more than 2400 injured. As a result of this earthquake more than 80000 buidings were destroyed and 124000 damaged. Some towns were in ruins (Fig. 4). Fig. 5 was obtained from USGS NEIC , it presents USGS Community Internet Intensity Map, based on 10 responses in 8 cities.

    Historical records
Epicenter of this earthquake was located 438 km S of catastrophic earthquake of May 12, 2008 М=8 , which killed more than 80 people, and in 347 km S of the strongest recent earthquake of Yunnan Province of April 20, 2013 М=7 .
Focal mechanism and seismic moment of the earthquake
Focal mechanism was calculated in IPC GS RAS with signs of initial arrivals of P-waves at 60 stations, including 35 stations which registered the waves of compression (plus signs), and 25 stations which registered the waves of extension (minus signs). All stations are located in the interval of epicentral distances 2–95º and in azimuthal sector Az=6-350º. Focal mechanism in stereographic projection at the lower hemisphere is presented at fig.6, elements of the mechanism are presented in table 2. Fig. 7, 8 present focal mechanism solutions obtained in USGS NEIC with Body-Wave Moment Tensor (Mwb) technique and in Quick CMT Catalogue Center with CMT technique. All solutions are close. This earthquake has occurred under the action of close in value N-E oriented extension stress, and N-W oriented compression stress. Both nodal planes are nearly vertical (DP=79-90º) in all solutions. NP1 strikes N-E (STK=70-72º), NP2 strikes S-E (STK=161-162º). The type of motion is a strike-slip, right lateral one for NP1 and left lateral for NP2. Seismic moment of this earthquake obtained in IPC GS RAS with spectra of Р-waves at «Obninsk» station (∆55.05º) - Мо=1.7*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.1. According to USGS NEIC Mo=1.51*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.1, according to Quick CMT Mo=2.19*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.2.
