Information message about the sensitive earthquake on the North-Eastern Sakhalin June 30, 2014

     The sensitive earthquake M=5 has occurred on June 30, 2014 at 20:58 GMT (July 1, 00:58 Moscow time) on the North-Eastern Sakhalin.
     Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 13 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).
     Preliminary processing has been done with data from 22 stations, accurate processing - with data 36 stations.
     Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (∆ 4.8º), Kuldur (∆ 7.6º), Ussuriysk (∆ 10.5º), Vladivostok (∆ 11.4º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Talaya (∆ 24.2º), Zalesovo (∆ 34.4º), Makanchi (∆ 38.9º), Kurchatov (∆ 39.1º).

     IPC GS RAS also has obtained information with parameters of this event from some seismological centers, these data are given in table 1:

  • Epicenter
         Fig. 3 presents with red star epicenter of this earthquake which origin was located on the North-Eastern Sakhalin, at the depth of 10 km, 17 km S-W of Nogliki, 25 km N-E of Nysh and 37 km S-S-W of Goryachiye Klyuchi.

    Macroseismic manifestations
         Аccording to GS RAS this earthquake was felt in Nysh with intensity 4 MSK and in Nogliki with intensity 3-4 MSK.
    Historical records
         Epicenter of this earthquake is located 68 km S-W of sensitive earthquake of February 19, 2014 М=5.4 which has occurred at the the North-East coast of Sakhalin, 567 km N of Nevelsk earthquake of August 02, 2007 М=6.2 and 581 km N of sensitive earthquake of August 17, 2006 М=5.6 which occurred near Gornozavodsk.
