Information message about the perceptible earthquake in Dagestan, May 13, 2016 |
The perceptible earthquake M=5.3 has occurred on May 13, 2016 at 21:17 GMT (May 14, 0:27 Moscow time) in Dagestan. |
Parameters of the earthquake
have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information
Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data
obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS
and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 9 min after
registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM). |
Preliminary processing has been done with data from 15 stations, accurate processing - with data 67 stations. |
Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Vedeno (∆ 0.3º), Groznyy (∆ 0.6º), Derbent (∆ 1.7º), Tsey (∆ 2º), Nalchik (∆ 2.2º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Khabaz (∆ 2.7º), Shidzhatmaz (∆ 2.9º), Kislovodsk (∆ 2.9º), Lazarevskoye (∆ 5.3º), Goytkh (∆ 5.3º). |

Fig. 3 presents with red star the epicenter of this earthquake, its origin was located in Dagestan at the depth of 70 km, 17 km W-S-W of Khasavyurt, 30 km of Chirkey reservoir and hydroelectric power station in Dagestan, 38 km N-E of Vedeno, 55 km N-W of Buynaksk and 79 km W of Makhachkala. |

According to GS RAS this earthquake was felt in Khasavyurt, Makhachkala with intensity 4 MSK, in Buynaksk with intensity 3-4 MSK, in Botlikh with intensity 3 MSK. The earthquake M=5.1 has occurred on April 16, 2013 in Dagestan 125 km S-E at the depth 10 km, the earthquake M=4.5 has occurred on January 13, 2011 in Chechnya 36 km N-W at the depth 10 km, the strong Kurchaloevsky earthquake M=5.6 has occurred on 11.10.2008 35 km N-E, which caused destruction and casualties in several villages of the Chechen Republic. |
