Historical records |
This earthquake on August 4, 2009 has happened in seismic active region, which in accordance with the map of general seismic regionalization OCP-97-A belongs to 8-MSK zone of activity [Dr. Ulomov V.I., Dr. Shumilina L.S., 1999]. This regions is known for historical strong earthquakes, most significant of them are:
The earthquake on May 27, 1991 with M=4.9 – on the territory of Mongolia, which was felt in some living places of Tuva republic with intensity of 3-4 MSK.
Busingol earthquake on December 27, 1991 with M=6.5 – one of the most intensive for the whole period of instrumental observations in the eastern part of Busingol Region near Mongolian border. It was felt on the vast territory including Tuva Republic, some part of Irkutsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Region and Mongolia. This earthquake was accompanied with series of powerful aftershocks. [Publ. «USSR earthquakes in 1991», Moscow, 1997].
