Information message about sensitive earthquake on Kuril Islands, July 20, 2014 |
| The sensitive earthquake M=5.9 has occurred on July 20, 2014 at 18:32 GMT (22:32 Moscow time) on Kuril Islands. |
| Parameters of the earthquake
have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information
Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data
obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS
and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 9 min after
registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM). |
| Preliminary processing has been done with data from 62 stations, accurate processing - with data 70 stations. |
| Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Kurilsk (∆ 0.9º), Yuzhno-Kurilsk (∆ 2.2º), Erimo (∆ 4.8º), Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (∆ 4.8º), Severo-Kurilsk (∆ 7.8º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Petropavlovsk (∆ 10.3º), Matsushiro (∆ 11.4º), Ussuriysk (∆ 12.1º), Vladivostok (∆ 12.3º), Kuldur (∆ 12.6º). |

| Fig.3 presents with red star epicenter of this earthquake, its origin was located in Pacific Ocean near the East coast of Kuril Islands, at the depth of 70 km, 95 km S-E of Reidovo, 179 km E-N-E of Malokurilskoye and 245 km E-N-E of Yuzhno-Kurilsk. |

| According to GS RAS this earthquake was felt in Reidovo with intensity 5-6, in Malokurilskoye with intensity 4, in Yuzhno-Kurilsk with intensity 3-4, in Kurilsk with intensity 3 MSK.
